Q: Are online lessons for me?

A: Online lessons give you the advantage of having the teacher’s undivided attention. You will learn at your pace. If you learn fast, then fast you go. If you need more time to practice a specific language point, you will be able to use as much time as you need. Thus, lesson time – and your time – is optimized.

Q: Do I have to buy textbooks?

A: No, you don't have to. Our instructors will prepare or adapt the material for the lesson when you book a professional lesson.

Q: What software do I need to have in order to have online lessons?

A: Apart from a reliable Internet connection, you'll need Zoom (https://zoom.us/support/download) for the classes. It is light and effective. We don't use Skype as it crashes frequently. But don't worry: Zoom is free.

Oh, and we recommend using either a PC or a laptop for professional lessons. We share our screen, notes, and documents. You may not see them well on a mobile phone.

Q: How can I book a lesson?

A: Go to the Booking Page. There, you'll be able to select the service (language lessons), the time you want your lesson to take place, and the instructor (if Eli is working with other instructors at the time). Then you enter your contact details and let us know if there is something we should know in advance. Finally, you proceed to check out. You'll receive a confirmation email with all the relevant information for your lesson.

Q: I'm concerned about online safety. Are payments handled safely?

A: Yes, they are. Our website uses SSL encryption. Payments are processed by PayPal and Stripe, two internationally recognized payment method providers. None of your payment details is ever stored in our system.

Q: How will I know when my class is going to start?

A: Whenever you book a lesson, you will receive two notifications: one to confirm as soon as the request is approved, and another to remind you that you have a lesson on that day.

Your instructor will also be emailing you about your lesson.

Q: I have an emergency. Can I cancel/reschedule my lesson?

A: We are people and we understand life happens. That's why we have stated in our terms and conditions that you can modify your reservation up to 6 hours before the lesson starts.

In your confirmation email, you receive the details as to how to cancel a lesson.

If you don't show up and don't let us know what happened, you will forfeit 50% of the lesson fee. The rest will be refunded. Each case will be judged individually.

Q: What happens if I don't show up?

A: Apart from our being sad – we like you and want to help you improve your language skills – you will be notified and get a 50% refund for that lesson. The rest is charged.

If you have a good reason for not showing up – which is pretty much normal – let us know. Each case will be judged individually.

Q: What happens if you don't show up?

A: We will do our best to be there for you, but sometimes life happens. We may get sick or have an emergency. In that case, we will contact you beforehand and offer to either refund the lesson fee or reschedule it at your convenience.

Since we are associated teachers – I, Eli, have partnered with teachers I know and trust – we can also offer you to have a lesson with a different instructor so you don't miss the lesson for that day. This possibility is available for Portuguese only.
